9 Best Wholesome Taco Recipes

TACOS. More than a meal, they’re a love language. Perhaps no one dislikes tacos. They’re perhaps the most versatile, customizable, and affordable meals you’ll ever make, with tons of flavor and texture. What not to love?

I combined 9 of my favorite healthy taco recipes to delight your tastebuds and keep your family and friends coming back.

Healthy taco recipe ideas

Tacos are fun to make and share with family and friends, making them great for meal prep. You can’t go wrong with ingredients for tacos (hello, DIY taco bars), but here are some simple ways to make them healthier:

I make taco meat with floor rooster, floor turkey, and salmon instead of floor beef for a leaner, high-protein alternative.

Serving vegetarians or looking for a Meatless Monday idea? Replace meat in your favorite recipes with black beans, chickpeas, tofu, or veggies.

Go fresh: tacos are my favorite meal because you can fill them with colorful, fresh ingredients. New cilantro, avocado, diced fruits and vegetables, and homemade salsa go well with your favorite proteins and sauces. A little lime juice here and there brings out the flavors!

If you’re gluten-free or serving gluten-free friends, buy corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. A simple swap! Siete makes great grain-free tortillas, and you can serve taco toppings over my simple Green Rice or greens for a low-carb option.
